About the Artist
Jim Grant has been turning foraged wood pieces and burls into vases, bowls and other various containers for 15 years. Shown here are the fruits of that labor and examples of the pieces he's crafted in the past from 'whatever he can get his hands on'.
Because the materials are foraged rather than hand-selected, Jim works with a number of wood varieties including maple, black walnut and elm. However, his favorite is cherry wood for its sweet smell on the lathe.
While he most often lets the wood tell him what it wants to be, Jim also does one-of-a-kind commission pieces on request.
